Cub Scout Pack 79
Serving the youth of Chatham, Illinois, for over 30 years
Do your best. Have fun doing it.
Cub Scouts are at a magical age where everything is new and possible and, most important, fun. We aim to offer a variety of fun and exciting adventures — the great outdoors, crafting & building, STEM, service & citizenship — while building new friendships and strengthening family bonds. Our goal is to foster Scouting America's vision of preparing boys to become responsible citizens and leaders by instilling in them values and character traits as expressed in the Scout Oath and Law. Pack 79 earns JTE Gold Award for 2023!
Journey to Excellence (JTE) is Scouting America's program to help Packs, Troops, Crews, Ships and Posts to plan, monitor and evaluate their performance and their ability to serve youth.
There are four major areas that Journey to Excellence focuses on: planning and budgeting, membership, program, and volunteer leadership. Each of the four major areas has specific and measurable objectives. Each objective has a point value and uses a balanced scorecard approach.
Each of the performance standards has three levels of achievement: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Achieving bronze is delivering an effective program and should be celebrated. Silver is considered to have an excellent program. Gold is exceptional and is difficult to achieve year after year.
